Forget the mall...join Downtown Frederick as it celebrates the busiest shopping day of the year with special holiday activities!  The festivites begin at 9am with over 50 shops and restaurants opening early to make your spirits bright!  Join the fun with great holiday events throughout the day! 

New this year, the Snowflake Exchange will entice customers to shop in Downtown Frederick for a chance to win great gifts from merchants.  Shoppers can collect one Snowflake from each store in which they spend $30 or more.  Once shoppers have collected a minimum of four snowflakes from participating Frosty Friday stores, customers are given the opportunity to pick a gift from the Snowflake Tree located at the North Pole, 154 N. Market Street, 10am – 6pm.  These fabulous gifts are generously provided by downtown merchants and will value from $10 to $40.

• 8:00 am – 11:00 pm: The Grinch, will attempt to steal Christmas from   

              eateries open for breakfast on Frosty Friday!  Find the Grinch at your favorite            breakfast spot and throughout the day in Downtown Frederick!

• 8:30am – 10:30am: Frosty the Snowman & his Snowflakes arrive to spread holiday cheer at Brewer’s Alley, 124 N Market, from 8:30am – 9:30am and at VOLT, 228 N Market, from 9:30am – 10:30am!  See Frosty and his entourage these two restaurants open for breakfast specifically on Frosty Friday!   

• 9:00am – 9:00pm: 50 stores will be open early!  Find something foreveryone on your list, from nieces and nephews to four-legged friends in Downtown Frederick’s eclectic stores.

• 9:00am – 9:00pm: Bring your Letters to Santa to the special Santa Mailboxes located at 9 different stops in downtown including, Ben & Jerry’s, Cowboy

           Stuff, Dancing Bear Toys, Flights of Fancy, Home Essentials, Mid-Atlanic Clinic, 

           O’Hair Salon, Two Paws Up and Velvet Lounge

• 9am – 12pm: Husband and wife duo, Jon & Carrie will play holiday music mixed with their original songs for Frosty Friday shoppers at 30 N. Market Street. (Weather permitting)

• 9am - 5pm: The Literacy Council and Dancing Bear Toys will be hosting a Holiday Market for Kids at 110 E. Patrick Street.  Youngsters can shop for unique fair trade gifts for $5 and under.  Visitors are encouraged to bring a new book for needy children.

•  9:00am – 5:00pm: Warm up and get energized with FREE hot cocoa provided by Downtown Frederick Partnership, BB&T Bank, & The Plamondon Companies – Marriott Hotels inside BB&T Bank, 1 N. Market St

• 10:00 am – Noon: Take an old-fashioned Horse-drawn Carriage Ride through Downtown Frederick, departing in front of Brewer’s Alley, 124 N. Market St. Suggested Donation: $10 per adult, $5 per child

   

• 10:00am – 5:00pm: Get your purchases ready for giving with FREE gift wrapping services inside the Artist’s Market, 15 N. Market Street.

• 10:00am – 6:00pm: The Frederick Arts Council will hold an Artist’s Market at the

           Cultural Arts Center located at 15 N. Market Street featuring various local artists 

          displaying their paintings, jewelry, photography, pottery, and more.  Take home a  

          unique handcrafted holiday gift!        

• 10:00am – 6:00pm: The North Pole will be open at the Mid-Atlantic Clinic, 154 N. Market.  Kids can write letters to Santa while Mom & Dad can redeem their Snowflake Exchange points for great gifts from downtown merchants!

• 10:00am – 7:00pm: Warm up and get energized with FREE hot cocoa provided by Downtown Frederick Partnership, BB&T Bank, and the Plamondon Companies - Marriott Hotels in front of 110 East Patrick Street.  

• 10:00am – 10:00pm: Enjoy the Festival of Greens, presented by The Frederick Arts Council at the Cultural Arts Center located at 15 N. Market Street.  Come see this public art project involving decorated wreaths and trees.  Bid on your favorite too!

• 11:00am – 2:00pm: Free pictures with Frosty the Snowman at 44 N. Market St. in the lobby next to Isabella’s Restaurant.  Courtesy of Downtown Frederick Partnership, BB&T Bank, and The Plamondon Companies – Marriott Hotels.

• 11:30am – 2:30pm: Enjoy holiday music from The Martins.  This family of musicians plays beautiful music for shoppers in front of 112 E. Patrick Street.

• Noon – 3:00pm: Dickens Carolers sing festive carols on downtown streets and in

           participating shops throughout downtown.

• Noon – 2:00pm: Stuart Frazier plays his bagpipes in Everedy Square/Shab Row for Frosty Friday shoppers.

• 1:00pm – 4:00pm: The Market Street Brass Quintet performs on the plaza at Everedy Square, at the corner of East and Church Streets.

• 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: The classic film, Wizard of Oz, will be shown on the big screen. Relive the magic over the rainbow.  A special family treat at the historic Weinberg Center for the Arts, 20 W. Patrick Street. Tickets: Adults $6, Seniors, Student, Children $4                                          

• 4:00pm – 8:00pm: The Mainstream Jazz performs on the plaza at Everedy

          Square, at the corner of East and Church Streets.                    

• 5:30pm – 8:30pm: Warm up and get re-energized with FREE hot cocoa provided by Downtown Frederick Partnership, BB&T Bank, and The Plamondon Companies – Marriott Hotels in front of 44 N. Market St.       

• 7:00pm – 8:00pm: Maria Wilson performs at the Cultural Arts Center, 15 N. Market, while visitors enjoy the Frederick Arts Council’s Festival of Greens

• 7:00pm – 8:00pm: Santa Claus arrives by horse-drawn carriage in Everedy Square Plaza.  Visit with Santa in his workshop at I Made This! Pottery, 10B N East.

• 8:00pm – 10:00pm: Enjoy the holiday film favorite, A Christmas Story, inside the Cultural Arts Center theatre, 15 N. Market.  Don’t shoot your eye out!

• 9:00pm – 11:00pm: The classic film, Dark Side of Oz , the Wizard of Oz will be shown on the big screen to the soundtrack of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon at the historic Weinberg Center for the Arts, 20 W. Patrick Street. Tickets: Adults $6, Seniors, Student, Children $4    

• 10:00pm – Midnight: Don’t miss the late night showing of the animated feature film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, at the Cultural Arts Center theatre, 15 N. Market.

   

Shoppers will find merriment in 50 participating stores and restaurants, and will find FREE deck paring until 6pm in all four Downtown Frederick parking decks - $1 after 6pm.  All holiday shoppers will find FREE on street parking all day on Frosty Friday and every Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
