Downtown Frederick Partnership

Downtown Frederick goes to the dogs with "Dog Days of Summer," featuring a dog parade and costume contest, dog friendly stores, dog friendly dining, animal art & more.  The festivities begin at 5pm with registration and conclude with a Yappy Hour doggie after-party.  Also enjoy live entertainment, guest artists and extended shopping hours at 80+ downtown stores.  A portion of Dog Days proceeds benefit the event's co-organizer, the Frederick County Humane Society.

Yappy Hour:

Sponsored by Flying Dog Brewery, this year’s Yappy Hour includes two live bands, delicious Flying Dog beer, an extended schedule. Open from 4-8pm at the Carroll Creek Amphitheatre.

Doggie Parade & Costume Contest:

Pick up a registration form at Two Paws Up or online at www.downtownfrederick.org. Pre-registration is strong-ly advised! The Frederick County Humane Society will receive 50% of all registration fees and will take additional donations throughout the day.

Carl is accepting commissions for portraiture of both people and animals. Carl will have several examples of his work on display.

The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center | 40 S Carroll Building wide reception for the new exhibits. Meet the exhibiting artists and enjoy a bite to eat and a taste of wine. Also, the 3rd floor offers "Creative Outlet!" where kids, young and old, can put paint to paper and craft a work of art. This months theme is "Global Dogs - In celebration of Dog Days of Summer." Open from 9am to 6pm.

Watch us make Dog Days dog bowls and other creations at our pottery wheel throwing demonstrations. Come and tour the studio and take a turn on the pot-ter’s wheel yourself!

The Muse | 19 N Market David Ohlerking, a Philadelphia artist paints on the spot! All day long he will be painting dogs, street scapes and more! He will paint your dog if you ask him to and if you like it you can buy it from him! Meet the artist and see his exhibit inside of the store!

Celebrate Frederick’s German heritage during the fourth annual Vintage VW Meet. Volkswagen autos and buses from the late 1930’s the 70’s will be on dis-play. Open til 6pm.

Trail House | 17 S Market Join us as we host Hero Dog, a non profit organization that provides service dogs to disabled veterans at no cost to the veteran! A great group and a very worth-while cause. Open 'till 9pm.
