The Art of the Wooden Mobile

Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center
40 S Carroll St, Frederick, MD 21701

Alexander Calder said, Just as one can compose colors, or forms, so one can compose motions. Learn how time, space, and motion can be applied to wood in the artistic form of the mobile! Students will defy convention by taking a wood - typically thought of as rigid and static - and transforming it to something dynamic. Each student will create one mobile of their own design. Geared for ages 16 and older. Prerequisite: Introduction to Woodworking or instructor approval. Tuition includes supplies. REQUIRED: Signed studio waiver; closed-toed shoes; long hair must be tied back; no dangling jewelry or clothing.
